I'm sorry it has taken so long to tell you - your card and cash arrived intact and well timed. I had to make time to share with you the bounteous details and depth of the gratitude we feel for you.

As I shared in an earlier email, I am pretty sapped of strength this year for Christmas celebrating. Every ounce of energy and resource are doled out carefully. Before your gift arrived I had realized that we would not be involved in a frenzied exchange of gifts. Neither energy nor finances permitted.

But, I am a Christmas fanatic; preparing in years past from the first fall of an autumn leaf until the last January box was stored away with tears. It is impossible to squelch the visions of sugar plums dancing in my head. I began to pine and whine for the familiar tastes, sounds and smells of the season as my body refused to grant me means.
Out of fear of depression, I began to have the glimmer of an idea to satisfy my need for the familiar.

Christmas tradition, for me, is steeped in vision, taste and smells. If I could only bring into my home the tastes without the baking, the smells without the effort, and the sights without the frenzied preparations - I would have my Christmas.

And then your card arrived.

I told my husband the idea.

"Let's go to Trader Joe's and buy the things that we would usually do without. Let's add in some Christmas tastes that we would normally make for ourselves or receive as gifts. Mind you, I was thinking of old-fashioned taffy, peppermint sticks, sugar cookies and gingerbread houses and fruitcake. I was thinking of taper candle and pine bough centerpieces, cinnamon scented pinecones and poinssetias in gold foil covered pots. I was thinking prime rib roast, red potatoes, asparagus tips, shrimp cocktail, plum pudding, mince meat pie and whipped cream and clam chowder."
asked him what he would add.

He said, "tomatoes".

My Bing-Crosby-snow-covered-backdrop-tinsel-and-bow-bedecked-crackling-fire-greeting-card vision-and-magic-spell moment went "kerplunk".

So, tomatoes it became!

I think that somebody want to know how we can improve the four English skills. In my opinion, first, if you want to improve your speaking skills, the best way is to practise. I take every opportunity to practise speaking English in and out of class. And I always go to the English Corner. I also communicate with some natives speakers of English. Second, keeping an English diary can help me a lot in writing. And I like write some English stories. It also can improve my writing skills. Third, in order to improve my listening skills, I often listen to English broadcasts and watch English programmes in my spare time. And I enjoy reading English stories and newspapers to improve my reading skills. I think if you all do like this, you will be very good English learners.

　　My favorate sports star is Tracy McGrady.He was born in twenty-forth 1979,2.03 m tall,101 kg weight.He is a basketball athlete.
He effect in the team called "Houston Rocket",and he's the leader in the team.He and Yao are "The Best Gear"(最佳拍档).The team has got the good result under his control.He plays very outstanding,action of shoot the basket is natural and unrestrained, too!

I like him very much!!!

　　In this world there are many colors, like green, red, pink, white or black, and so on, but my favorite color is blue! And I do not like pink, red These colors look very cute, you know, like blood red color, I do not like, and that is very bad
But not like the blue, they look very bright, although some people think that they represent sad, but blue is rich colors. Blue is the eternal symbol, it is the most cold colors. Pure blue shown a beautiful, quiet, rational, peaceful and clean.
Therefore, my favorite color is blue!

　　Today is a good day. The sunlight is very bright. I saw Lin dan’s Competition, Lin dan VS Li chongwei. I have to say Lin is a good athlete, and he is really handsome. Li also acted well, they all giving a good account of themselves. I am very admiring them. Athlete, come on to win for the motherland!
