Xiamen is a beautiful harbor city, which islocated in the Southeast of Fujian Province. The local people are very friendly to the travelers from other places. There are lots of amazing museums and galleries in Xiamen, and the most popular one must be Gulangyu Island. It is a small island with fantastic landscapes. A number of funny shops and western old buildings always attract many travelers to visit, even though they have to go by ship.
The weather in Xiamen is good, but it might betoo hot for foreign visitors. Even though people here all speak Hokkien, wealso study hard to improve our Chinese and English to give warm welcome to others from all over the world.

Xiamen is an island city with a rich and dramatic history, replete with pirates, rebel leaders, and European merchants. Now linked to mainland Fujian by a causeway, Xiamen retains a strong international flavor. Known in the West as Amoy, Xiamen has a long history as a port city, and later became a center of British trade in the 19th century. Their foreign settlements, later taken over by Japanese invaders at the start of World War II, were established on the nearby small Gulangyu Island. Many of the old treaty-port and colonial buildings in Western styles survive. Xiamen was declared one of China's first Special Economic Zones in the early 1980's, taking advantage of the city's heritage as a trading center and the proximity to Taiwan. Today Xiamen is one of China's most attractive and best-maintained resort cities. Xiamen was founded in 1394 at the beginning of the Ming dynasty as a center of defense against coastal pirates. Its prosperity was due to its deepwater sheltered harbor, that supplanted nearby Quanzhou, the port that had been the center of the maritime trade with the Indies.

Xiamen, facing Taiwan across the sea, is an important window and base for foreign contacts in China's southeast coastal area, which is nearest to Southeast Asia and Oceania. Haicang, a part of Xiamen, is situated on the tip of South-Fujian Triangular Area and separated with Xiamen Island only by a strip of water. Haicang has a semi-tropical monsoon climate with meteorological data as follows: Annual average temperature: 21C, Monthly average temperature: maximum 28.5C, minimum 12.5C, Extremely low temperature: 2C, Extremely high temperature: 38.5C, Average annual time of sunshine: 2233.5 hours, Average annual rainfall: 1143.5mm. Haicang's terrain is a combination of hill, terrace and plain with a stable geological structure. It has never registered any destructive earthquake in its history. Considering its advantageous port conditions and the vast space for development, Dr. Sun Yaksen put forward a grand concept of building Haicang into an "Oriental Big Port" in his "Strategy to Build the Country". In early twentieth century, "Asia" of Britain and "Mobil" of the United States, two consortiums, used Haicang as their oil-transshipping port and fuel base.

1、I am a middle school student. I usually have breakfast at home. My mother cooks breakfast for me everyday. I like egg and milk, but I prefer bread. I have lunch at school. I often eat beef and vegetables. I like vegetables. Because I think it is good for our health. But it isn't delicious, so I don't like it. As for dinner, I eat at home. My mother often cooks fish and chicken. I prefer them to berad.2、It's important for everyone to have three meals everyday. Many people miss their breakfast because they do not have enough time -- that's totally bad for bodies. It's easy for you to get hungry if you do not have anyone of these three meals. Breakfast is important, beacuse you have not been eating anything for hours before you get up. You can not miss your lunch because you need to get energy for the rest of the day. Some people do not have dinner in order to lose weight, but they will feel hungry later but food taken at that time is harder to be digested, they will get less nutrition but a lot fat store in their body instead. That's why you need to have three meals on time everyday.

Confucianism was the official philosophy throughout most of Imperial China's history, and mastery of Confucian texts was the primary criterion for entry into the imperial bureaucracy. China's traditional values were derived from various versions of Confucianism. A number of more authoritarian strains of thought have also been influential, such as Legalism. Chinese characters have had many variants and styles throughout Chinese history. Tens of thousands of ancient written documents are still extant, from oracle bones to Qing edicts. This literary emphasis affected the general perception of cultural refinement in China, e.g. the view that calligraphy was a higher art form than painting or drama. Manuscripts of the Classics and religious texts (mainly Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist) were handwritten by ink brush.Calligraphy later became commercialized, and works by famous artists became prized possessions. Chinese literature has a long past; the earliest classic work in Chinese, the I Ching or "Book of Changes" dates to around 1000 BC. A flourishing of philosophy during the Warring States Period produced such noteworthy works as Confucius's Analects and Laozi's Tao Te Ching. (See also: the Chinese classics.) Dynastic histories were often written, beginning with Sima Qian's seminal Records of the Historian, which was written from 109 BC to 91 BC.The Tang Dynasty witnessed a poetic flowering, while the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature were written during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Printmaking in the form of movable type was developed during the Song Dynasty. Academies of scholars sponsored by the empire were formed to comment on the classics in both printed and handwritten form. Royalty frequently participated in these discussions as well. The Song Dynasty was also a period of great scientific literature, and saw the creation of works such as Su Song's Xin Yixiang Fayao and Shen Kuo's Dream Pool Essays. There were also enormous works of historiography and large encyclopedias, such as Sima Guang's Zizhi Tongjian of 1084 AD or the Four Great Books of Song fully compiled and edited by the 11th century.Chinese philosophers, writers and poets were highly respected and played key roles in preserving and promoting the culture of the empire. Some classical scholars, however, were noted for their daring depictions of the lives of the common people, often to the displeasure of authorities. The Chinese invented numerous musical instruments, such as the zheng (zither with movable bridges), qin (bridgeless zither), sheng (free reed mouth organ), and xiao (vertical flute) and adopted and developed others such the erhu (alto fiddle or bowed lute) and pipa (pear-shaped plucked lute), many of which later spread throughout East Asia and Southeast Asia, particularly to Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. The music of China dates back to the dawn of Chinese civilization with documents and artifacts providing evidence of a well-developed musical culture as early as the Zhou Dynasty (1122 BC – 256 BC). Today, the music continues a rich traditional heritage in one aspect, while emerging into a more contemporary form at the same time.
